London has crossed the millennium by offering a makeover. Fueled by economic growth, it has offered a spectacular architectural facelift, affirming its role as multicultural megalopolis.
Cosmopolitanism and tolerance, entrepreneurship, higher wages and the (almost) full employment have attracted a new wave of immigration until the fall of 2008.
Although the crisis has changed the situation, London always has the odds and young Frenchies are nearly 100 000 have crossed the Channel to try their luck in the European Eldorado, becoming the de facto economic and cultural capital of the Old Continent. GDP generated by the British capital is close to that of Sweden! That says it all. In fact, property prices exceeds that of New York or Tokyo and hunting many Londoners distant suburbs.
And the great work of the 2012 Olympics did not help matters, even if the new districts to the east which have been restored for the occasion are still struggling to find their identity.
